First Death

There are two things I’ve realized throughout this fight.

The first one is about the talent with which the brats were born, as they are not as idiots as I thought. They can learn. I don’t know how long they’ll remember it, though.

This has been made clear by the learning capabilities that have shone through in my opponent during this fight since, after seeing my moves, he has been trying to imitate them, and knowing the danger posed by my blows, he has been trying hard to avoid them. Of course, there is still a difference between us, but the potential is there.

The fact that they fight like ignorant beasts must be due to the lack of teachers or even references. After all, no one here could teach them or at least show them how to fight in any other way than throwing hook punches, scratches, and bites.

Although, it would have been better if that had stayed that way because it’s not good for these guys to learn how to fight better…

Anyway, it’s no use crying over spilled milk.

Now, the second thing I figured out is that karma is bullshit.

If I had known, or rather, if I had thought about how fast this bastard was learning, I wouldn’t have hit him in the balls, so he wouldn’t think about hitting me back.

As we both lay on the ground a few feet away, I remembered playing with my cousins at some point in my youth, when I still lived with my grandmother, to hit us there to laugh at the comical reactions of the sore victims, but what I experienced then is incomparable to what I feel now.

The son of a bitch hit me with his knuckles in every man’s weak spot.

He lay on the floor, holding his bloody nose with one hand, while with the other, he tried unsuccessfully to stand up, and with how shaky his body was, it seemed that he was about to faint. As for me, seeing how weakened he was, the danger that he transmitted to me disappeared almost completely, so the adrenaline that ran through my arteries returned to normal levels, making the pains that I had ignored before hitting my brain incessantly.

Kneeling, with my forehead glued to the floor, I used one of my hands to hold my balls, and with the other, I rubbed my abdomen to calm the pain that was slowly ascending. In addition, tiny tears were coming from my eyes, even though I tried to hold them back by biting my lips.

‘Breathe, sigh; breathe, sigh… it’s okay. Don’t worry, don’t worry. This will be over soon’

Consoling myself, I thought of the women who, seeing both of us lying on the ground, should soon come over to put an end to this fight and take us to the cave.

I need to eat. I need to do it now for the sake of my future offspring.

The urgency I felt to eat was almost as great as the day I almost died from the long fall on the hill, for although I have not undressed to see the state of my nether parts, I am sure they are swelling because of the blow, and as a man, what I want most in this world is for them to heal soon so that I don’t lose them forever.

‘‘Now, now, now’’

Accompanied by slight murmurs, with difficulty, I turned my head, putting my cheek on the ground, to see why the ones in charge of ending the fight had not yet arrived.

‘… So that’s how it is, eh’

I was wrong, they have not moved from their positions, and seeing their indifferent postures, it seems they will not do so until one of us loses consciousness.

We both lie trembling with pain, but we are still awake. Therefore, the fight must go on.

Motivations are the best and incomparable fuel that the human being uses to move, advance and grow. For example, I, who thought it was all over, behaved like a crybaby while waiting for external salvation. However, now that I have discovered it will never come, I stood up with my wobbly legs and the pain still prickling in my most sensitive part.

With my left hand still holding my testicles, the other, I was closing and opening my fist, preparing to deliver my last blow. All this while I was thinking about what that move would be.

I had to end this right now. I couldn’t drag it out any longer, for the sweat was stinging my wounds and wetting my body hair, plus the heavy breaths coming out of my mouth, were enough to reveal how exhausted I was.

I looked around me, forcing my mind to ignore what was getting in the way of my goal of thinking about what I would do next.

For a moment, I thought of running towards the brat who still wouldn’t get up, but I held back that impulse when I saw that his arms were shaking less than before, plus the hatred in his eyes was a great persuasion.

Now I knew this time he wouldn’t run away from me like he did in the beginning. He would surely chase me until he finished me off and probably try to return that knee I kneed him. However, considering his lack of experience, he wouldn’t be able to hit my head, although there was another place where he could do it if I didn’t pay enough attention.

I carefully applied more force to my left hand as I imagined such an outcome.

‘This… should work’

After watching behind me for a few seconds, I made my plan concrete. Just in time since he was finally about to stand up.

Turning my gaze to his face, now that it was at a similar height to mine, I observed its condition after my attack. His nose twisted to one side and covered with blood, plus his red, swollen cheekbone, contrasted sharply with his pale skin but matched the veins that stained his wide-open eyes.

As soon as he got enough balance, he ran straight to me, and taking into account the short distance between us, I also ran without delay. Not towards him, but in the opposite direction, that is, to the cave.

Due to the size difference, my speed was faster than his, but after reaching a certain distance, I slowed mine down so I wouldn’t get further away from him.

We ran for a few seconds because even though we moved while fighting, we didn’t get far away from the cave.

As we approached the destination, it became evident that I was not heading towards the entrance but a couple of meters to the side of it, to the rock wall that supported it. Then, just before crashing, I stopped, and after that, I moved my body a few centimeters to the left while keeping my right leg in the same position to make him stumble.

Before the impact, in preparation, I bit my lower lip, hoping to withstand the pain that was to come. However, at the exact moment when the blow happened, this action that I used to do usually was not enough to calm me down, for when I felt how the bone of my calf cracked when it collided with his added to the superhuman strength of this body, made the part that I was clenching with my teeth to be torn off in an instant.

Still, it was worth it, for the brat stumbled as he had intended. So hard was the collision that a considerable amount of earth fell from the hill rising over the wall.

Or so I thought until I saw how, with both hands, he distanced himself from it.

All right, I knew it. I knew that even if he protected himself, the force of the shock would not have allowed him to come out unscathed, but would that be enough? Would a half-hearted blow be enough to defeat him?

I didn’t know it, nor did I believe it. Therefore, with blood dripping from my mouth, I took a step forward with my twice-wounded foot, and after gaining momentum by stretching my arm back, I threw a hard punch aimed at the back of his head, trying to impact his forehead against the wall again.

Just considering the positions we were both in, it was clear that my victory was assured. So, in a moment of relaxation, I closed my eyes to blink, waiting to feel the hard impact with my knuckles, but it never came.

Soft. Not as much as the fabric and paper are, but more than the skull bone should be.

As I opened my eyes, I looked in front of me at the boy with his eyes wide open, almost popping out of their sockets due to the strong punch he received directly on his temple, in addition to the red that was now coming out of the bleeding wound stuck to the wall.

Startled by such an unexpected event, I tried to retreat by taking two steps backward but, forgetting about my broken calf, accompanied by a groan, ended up falling on my buttocks to the ground.

It was not only me who fell, as the boy also slid on the wall, drawing on it an elongated stain, until he lay on the floor where he began to convulse while red foam came out of his mouth.

‘I killed him’

That’s what I thought when I saw him as blood trickled down from my mouth to my neck and chest.
