I am Fujimiya Iori, a 14-year-old Japanese born on Earth in the year 3181.
If there was one word to describe Earth in the 32nd century, it would be “perfect.” That’s because, at some point, all conflicts were wiped out and almost all problems, such as the energy crisis, were solved.
Then, a paradigm shift in nanotech occurred. Nano-machines were developed and rapidly progressed. As a result, except for science fiction technologies like time travel, human civilization had developed to a level where nothing was impossible.
In that 32nd century Earth, I was just an ordinary middle school student… or so I thought.
One day, something happened that completely changed that.
When I woke up from sleep, I found myself in an unfamiliar room with an unfamiliar statue and a mysterious corpse.
I tried to calm my confusion and went outside the room, only to find myself in an unknown world. The twinkling stars in the night sky, the floating moon, and everything else was different from Earth.
It was an unmistakable parallel world.
Yes, I had been transported to another world.
A world filled with magic, sorcery, and magical tools. A world of fantastic things.
Encounters and separations with people in that world gave me various things. It was stimulating, charming, warm, kind, and sometimes cruel.
So fascinating was this parallel world that even protagonists of countless other works about transportation to another world found happiness there and decided to settle down.
But…
Even so…
I want and need to go home.
I can’t believe it, but I want nothing more than to go back home.
Earth, which had achieved a perfect world, was more attractive than any other place.
I won’t give up on going back home.
That’s my story.
