Ch. 4: Secrets in the Static

Aryan stared at the silent radio. The voice he had just heard sounded exactly like his own.

“I'm you… From the future.”

Neither Aryan nor Meera spoke for several seconds.

Finally, Meera broke the silence.

“If that's really your future self… Then something terrible must happen.”

The next morning, they returned to the abandoned observatory, hoping to find answers before Eclipse found them again.

This time they entered through a broken window at the back of the building.

The underground laboratory was completely silent.

The computers were still running.

One monitor displayed a folder labeled:

“PROJECT ECHO – CLASSIFIED.”

Aryan opened it.

Most of the files were corrupted, but one video recording still worked.

A scientist appeared on the screen.

“My name is Dr. Arvind Rao. If anyone is watching this, Project Echo has failed.”

He looked tired and frightened.

“We created a device capable of sending information through time using quantum radio waves. At first it worked perfectly.”

The video suddenly flickered.

“But then… Something else entered the signal.”

“We called it… The Static.”

The scientist looked directly into the camera.

“If you ever find the receiver, never let Eclipse control it. They don't want to protect the future.”

“They want to rewrite it.”

The recording ended.

Before Aryan could react, every light in the laboratory switched off.

Darkness filled the room.

Then a cold mechanical voice echoed through the speakers.

“Unauthorized access detected.”

Heavy steel doors slammed shut.

The exit was blocked.

Footsteps slowly echoed through the darkness.

A tall man wearing a long black coat stepped into the light.

A silver badge on his coat displayed the Eclipse symbol.

He smiled calmly.

“So… You're the one who activated the receiver.”

Aryan tightened his grip on the old radio.

The man extended his hand.

“My name is Victor.”

“Give me the receiver, and nobody gets hurt.”

The room fell silent.

Aryan knew that whatever decision he made next would change everything.
