Ch. 5: Race Against Time

Share Chapter

The underground laboratory shook violently as another explosion echoed through the observatory. Dust fell from the ceiling, and sparks flew from broken electrical panels.

“Move!” Victor shouted.

Aryan, Meera, and Victor ran through a narrow maintenance tunnel while masked soldiers searched the laboratory behind them.

“They're gaining on us!” Meera cried.

Victor stopped at a heavy steel door and entered a security code. The door slid open, revealing a hidden chamber filled with advanced computers and a giant digital map.

In the center stood a glowing crystal-like device connected to dozens of cables.

Aryan stared at it.

“What is that?”

Victor took a deep breath.

“It's called the Core. Every signal from the future passes through it. If the Core is destroyed, the Time Network disappears forever.”

Before anyone could speak, the old radio crackled again.

This time the voice was weak and distorted.

“Aryan… Listen carefully… Eclipse isn't your greatest enemy… Someone inside the organization is helping the Static escape…”

The message ended abruptly.

Suddenly, every screen in the room turned black.

A strange symbol appeared—a swirling cloud of static.

Then a cold mechanical voice echoed through the speakers.

“The timeline has become unstable. Reset sequence initiated.”

The glowing Core began flashing red.

Victor's face turned pale.

“No… It's overloading!”

A countdown appeared on the main screen.

05:00

“If the countdown reaches zero,” Victor said, “the Core will release enough energy to rewrite history. Millions of lives could change in an instant.”

Aryan looked at Meera.

“There has to be a way to stop it.”

Meera noticed a maintenance terminal beside the Core.

“It says a manual shutdown requires two people.”

Victor nodded.

“One person must stabilize the Core.”

“And the other?” Aryan asked.

“The other must enter the shutdown chamber.”

Aryan looked through the thick glass window.

Inside the chamber, blue energy surrounded the control panel.

Victor lowered his head.

“Anyone who enters may never come back.”

The countdown continued.

04:12… 04:11… 04:10…

Aryan took a deep breath.

“If this is the only way to save everyone…”

He stepped toward the chamber door.

Behind him, the radio switched on one last time.

It was his future voice.

“Aryan… Whatever happens… Don't let the Static reach the Core.”

The chamber door slowly opened.

Aryan walked inside as the countdown continued.

The fate of the future now rested in his hands.
