Chapter 1: Chapter 0 : Preface
Please Lock the Door
By AuthorPreface
Please Lock the Door is rooted in the psychological theories of Carl Jung.
Since ancient times, dreams have governed the human subconscious. Even after thousands of years, mankind remains confused by and unable to fully comprehend dreams. In truth, dreams arise from humanity’s collective unconscious—the shared psychic substrate of all humankind—and it is through dreams that this hidden mind reveals itself.
Western mystics, however, believe in the concept of the astral body. When our physical form enters sleep, the soul wanders into the astral realm, and dreams are nothing more than chaotic, fragmented, and distorted memories of what we encountered there. During this spiritual voyage, we may come into contact with the spirits of deceased loved ones, mythical beasts, or even the demons lurking in the lowest depths of purgatory. What we see and hear in that realm manifests through various symbols to reveal prophecies of the future and truths about the real world.
The collective unconscious, shaped by innate inheritance and later education, lies dormant in the depths of our psyche. Dreams become symbolic markers that guide human behavior. These markers may appear as geometric patterns, as colors, as a piece of music—when we encounter them by chance in waking life, our memories of the astral world are stirred, and we unconsciously submit to the influence of these symbols.
This is what we call magic.
Magic springs from humanity’s ancient memories. It eternally governs our will, our thoughts, and our actions.
