The Young Physician of the Tang Dynasty

A young pharmacist with a passion for traditional Chinese medicine, Zuo Shaoyang has the knowledge and qualifications to practise—but little chance to prove himself. Then a violent storm tears him from the modern world and carries him back to the early Tang dynasty.

He awakens in the body of a physician’s son, into a family barely able to put food on the table. Their shabby medicine shop draws few patients, and years of unpaid rent and borrowed money have left them deep in debt. With New Year’s Eve approaching, their landlady gives them five days to pay—or lose their home, their shop, and the medicines that sustain their livelihood.

For Zuo Shaoyang, modern medical knowledge offers a glimmer of hope. But he must earn the trust of patients, navigate unfamiliar customs, and persuade a father who still sees him as an untrained apprentice. Before he can dream of making his name in the Tang dynasty, he must find a way to keep his new family from being turned out into the winter cold.

Blending medical cases, family life, and gentle humour, *The Young Physician of the Tang Dynasty* begins with a young man facing an urgent challenge: saving the household that has suddenly become his own.
