This retelling of a classic Panchatantra story with a moral follows Fierce-Howl, a hungry jackal who falls into a dyer‘s indigo vat and climbs out a startling, heavenly blue. Mistaken by the forest for a messenger of the gods, he crowns himself king, takes lions and tigers as his ministers, and drives away his own kind, including the old jackal who taught him to sing. But a jackal’s heart is harder to dye than his coat.
