In the warm heart of Gadigal country, a gentle maiden named Waratah lives with her people, who are suffering from a long drought. The land is thirsty, and the river has dried up. When the elder reveals that the spirit of the land needs a gift of love, Waratah offers herself. Guided by a wise spirit in the form of a kangaroo, she journeys to the sacred mountain. There, she learns that true giving comes from the heart, and her act of sacrifice blooms into the first red waratah, a flower that brings hope and warmth to every hearth. This cozy retelling of a classic Dreaming story celebrates the power of love, community, and the land.
