Chapter 1: Chapter 1 — 6:00 A.M.
New year's Day
By AuthorThe city was still asleep when Aarav woke.
New Year’s Day had a different kind of silence — not empty, just waiting.
He stood on his balcony, tea steaming in his hands, watching the pale sun climb the sky. The air felt new. Like the world had been reset overnight.
His phone buzzed.
Dozens of messages.
But not the one he hoped for.
He thought about the past year — missed chances, quiet heartbreaks, long nights of doubt. He had almost given up more than once.
At 6:07 a. M., his phone finally lit up.
I made it through another year. So did you. That’s something, isn’t it?
Aarav smiled.
We’re still here. Let’s try again.
The year had begun.
