The last day part 2

The last day part 2

At the opposite corner of Riya’s dilapidated building stands a modest house; that houses the family of Sachin. Born to a middle class Clerk in the nearby government office, Sachin have had a rather obscure and almost friend less childhood. The person he has been closest to become friend with is Riya, his school mate. Inside Sachin house as the norm there’s a hustle and bustle. Sachin’s mother begin the day’s chores by waking up first the father and then the son, both unwilling to wake up. As she progresses to the kitchen, Sachin’s sister and their grandpa; both early birds; arrives from a walk. As Sachin nonchalantly goes to the bathroom for a bath, a ruckus ensues between his young sisters, Veena and sushma(both twins).

As Sachin comes out of the bathroom he shouts for his mom, ‘Maa where’s my school shirt yaar’. ‘At the Taylor’s’ comes the reply. Dumbfounded Sachin harshly moves to the kitchen asking his mother for an explanation. It’s when she begin to explain ‘You are the one who told me you don’t need your school dress anymore, so your sister took it and would modify…. ‘, that the realization dawns on Sachin. Today is the last day of School. He quickly picks up his phone to find hundreds of messages in the unofficial WhatsApp group of his friends. The dress code was discussed and finalised- a blue shirt and jeans pants.

Scrolling down the messages with a tense filled mind, suddenly his face glows up. He sneaks into his twin siblings room and snatches away a blue shirt, from the almirah. It’s the same shirt he gifted his sister to modify or decorate it, a favorite past time of his fashion loving sisters. Sachin gifted this shirt against a promise that they will not touch his other shirts. Now that the promise is breached, he didn’t hesitate in taking back his gift without their permission. He took the shirt leaving behind a note ‘Blue shirt for my white, deal done’. With this sachin moves to his room to get ready for the ‘Last day’.
